The Internet
The Internet

As we approach the end of October, there’s an international day of celebration that recognises arguably the greatest invention of human history – and if it’s not number one, it’s guaranteed Top 5. We’re talking about the internet.

International Internet Day takes place on 29th October, a date that was chosen because the first ever electronic message “LO” was transmitted by UCLA student programmer Charley Kline on the same date in 1969. It obviously took a long time for the internet to then become what it is now, but by 2005 it was so important to everyday life that the International Day was created.

And at our private detective agency in Preston, we rely on the internet for so much of what we do now.

Private investigators and the internet

The internet has changed so much of how private detectives work, and almost entirely for the better. People leave much more of a ‘paper trail’ online, which means finding missing people is significantly easier.

But it also means we’re more efficient too. We can access our own files from anywhere, rather than having to travel back and forth. We can research while on the move, making it much simpler for us to multitask, or follow up on a lead on short notice.

Plus it allows us to access some new sources of information that previously were either kept private, or were in a central location which made using them almost impossible from a cost-efficiency perspective.

Things like companies house and the land registry are now mere seconds away, whereas in the days before the internet we would’ve had to travel to places where records were kept, and manually search through them.

Process servers and the internet

Many of the benefits of the internet from a private detective perspective also apply in our role as process servers. Again, the internet makes it easier for us to find people who we need to serve documents too – and we can use their social media profiles to narrow down their whereabouts.

If we can’t immediately find them, then we can use the same incredible sources online to work out their patterns of behaviour, so that we’re in the best position to be able to serve them as quickly as possible. And because we always carry the internet around with us on our phones, we’re able to react much faster while out on the road.

In short, the internet makes us work more efficiently. And efficiencies can therefore be passed onto our customers, because we don’t need to give up as much of our time in order to help you be successful.

From our offices in Preston, we’re connected to a world of information, and we can make use of that in many ways to help you achieve your goals, whether it’s serving legal papers, carrying out background checks, or looking into whether your partner could be cheating on you.
